On 15th May 2026, a presentation programme was held at the District Assembly Car Park to distribute livelihood support items to selected Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The programme formed part of the District Assembly’s commitment to improving the socio-economic well-being of persons with disabilities by providing them with tools and equipment to support income-generating activities.
The objective of the programme was to empower beneficiaries with vocational and business support items to enhance their livelihoods, promote economic independence, and improve their standard of living.
The Honourable Member of Parliament, Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, jointly presented. In their remarks, both dignitaries reaffirmed their commitment to supporting persons with disabilities and encouraged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the items to improve their economic activities and contribute positively to the development of the district. In all, a total of eleven (11) PWDs, including persons with physical disabilities and persons with visual impairment, benefited from this distribution.
The items presented to the beneficiaries included:
- Two (2) deep freezers
- One (1) double-door refrigerator
- Two (2) industrial sewing machines
- Assorted Kente weaving materials
- Three (3) rolls of leather materials
- Wheelchair
- Two containers
- Soap cutting machine
On behalf of the beneficiaries, representatives expressed profound appreciation to the Honourable Member of Parliament, the District Chief Executive, the District Assembly, and the Disability Fund Management Committee for the timely support. They pledged to utilis the items responsibly for their intended purposes to improve their livelihoods.
The programme was successfully conducted and marked another significant step in the District Assembly’s efforts to promote the economic empowerment and social inclusion of Persons with Disabilities. It is expected that the items provided will enhance the beneficiaries’ productive capacities, improve household incomes, and contribute to sustainable livelihoods.
