The Hon. District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, today 8TH of September, 2026, received a team from the Presidency responsible for implementing the Rural Electrification Project under the “Big Push” Agenda of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana.
The project team was warmly welcomed by the Hon. District Chief Executive and Hon. Assembly Members, who expressed their commitment and readiness to support the successful implementation of this important national development initiative. As part of their support, the Hon. Assembly Members have willingly offered accommodation and other necessities to ensure a comfortable stay for the team during their assignment in the district.
Under the project, 25 communities in South Tongu district are expected to benefit from connection to the National Grid. The project is expected to take approximately six months to implement and complete.
Hon. Victoria Dzeklo has, however, appealed to His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, to consider increasing the number of beneficiary communities beyond the initial 25. According to her, extending the project to cover more communities will enable more residents to gain access to electricity, thereby promoting development, improving livelihoods, and accelerating economic activities across the district.
The District Assembly remains committed to working closely with the project team and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth and successful implementation of the Rural Electrification Project for the benefit of the people.
