MR. INNOCENT LYNFORD KWESI TETTEH DID NOT GET THE REQUIRED MAJORITY OF VOTES TO BE CONFIRMED AS THE DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR SOUTH TONGU DISTRICT ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT.

His Excellency the President of Ghana in accordance with article 243(1) of the constitution and Section 20(1) of the local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936) as amended has nominated Mr. INNOCENT LYNFORD KWESI TETTEH as the District Chief Executive for South Tongu District prior to his confirmation by the General Assembly.

In view of this, a special assembly meeting was organized by Hon. Victoria Dzeklo the Presiding Member for South Tongu District Assembly at the District Assembly Hall for the confirmation of the nominee on Thursday 22nd February 2024 by the Hon. Assembly members of the District.

The Confirmation was attended by the Reginal Minister, Hon. Archibald Letsa, the chief Director of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Augustus K. Awity, Hon Victoria Dzeklo and some Dignitories in the District.

The Presiding Member gave a welcome address and the agenda for the meeting to the assembly members. The presiding member and the assembly members asking the regional minister to renovate the assembly hall for them in respond to the request made by the house, the Minister promised them it will be provided by the end of March.

The Regional Minister Hon. Archibald Yao Letsa urged the house to vote YES for the President Nominee to be approved for him to hand over to him before leaving the District. After the Regional Ministers speech, the presiding Member gave the order for the EC to take charge of the voting of the Nominee.

The EC then briefed the house on the election proceedings. The EC continued by making it known to the house that, before the Nominee can be confirmed he has to attain 2/3 of the vote of members present and voting is a secret balloting, she cautioned that Phones are not allowed in the voting center. The voting started by mentioning of the names of the assembly members one after the other.

The vote ended and counting started,

Counting Vote for YES was 30.

Counting vote for NO was 28.
