The District Environmental Health Unit of the South Tongu District Assembly organized a two-day fumigation exercise for some selected communities in the district.
The exercise was aimed at offering zero insect tolerance in products or living environment in the various towns and villages. It was also aimed at controlling pests at all life stages.
Some of the towns that benefited from this exercise were Sogakope, Tefle, Sokpoe, Hlevi and Kpotame.
The exercise was duly represented by the Environmental Health Unit, Diseases and Pests Control Unit and representatives from the District Health Directorate.
The District Environmental Health Officer in his closing remarks said that such exercise should be organized periodically to reduce residue problems in commodities and structures as fumigants can reach where most insecticides cannot.
