Today, the MP for South Tongu District, Maxwell Kwame Lututor, began distributing mattresses and chop boxes to 600 selected students across the South Tongu Constituency under my Student Support Programme at the District Assembly premises on the 15th of September,2026.
The first phase at the South Tongu District Assembly saw 298 students from Zones One and Two receive their items.
Tomorrow, we continue at Dabala Junction for Zone Three and Adutor for Zone Four, bringing the distribution to students across all four educational zones.
This intervention is more than mattresses and chop boxes. It is about supporting our children, easing the burden on families and investing in the future of South Tongu.
But he also told the students, parents and stakeholders that providing support is only one part of the work. We must collectively confront the challenges affecting academic performance in our constituency.
He therefore challenged our students to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined and make the most of every opportunity available to them.
He also called on parents to take a stronger interest in their children’s academic progress, while urging teachers and education managers to continue giving their very best.
Government, the Assembly, my office and other stakeholders can provide infrastructure and support, but we cannot do the work alone. The home, the school and the community must all play their part.
The District Chief Executive of South Tongu, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, also advised students in the district to take their education seriously to achieve their future aspirations. Speaking at the event, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo noted that education remains the surest path to success and urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to their studies. She encouraged students to set clear goals, work hard, and stay away from negative influences that could derail their ambitions. According to her, every effort made in school today will determine the opportunities available to them tomorrow. Hon. Victoria Dzeklo further reminded the students that their success brings pride not only to their parents but also to the entire district. She said when students excel, they become role models and ambassadors of South Tongu.
“Make your parents proud, make South Tongu proud, and make yourselves proud. Your district is counting on you to become the doctors, teachers, leaders, and innovators of tomorrow,”
she stated. She assured students of the Assembly’s continued support for education and called on parents and teachers to play their roles effectively in shaping the future of the children.
Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lututor used the opportunity to say he was grateful to the DCE, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, the District Director of Education; Celestine S.A. Korsi – Agordo (Mrs.), traditional leaders, religious leaders, Assembly Members, teachers, parents and all stakeholders who joined us and continue to support this initiative.
To every beneficiary, this support comes with a responsibility: work hard, stay focused and make South Tongu proud.
We are not only supporting students today. We are building the human capital that will shape the future of our constituency.
