At the commissioning, Miss Dorothy Enyonam Ofori who represented International Justice Mission (IJM) while handing over the facility stressed on how easy it will be for officers of the department to be able to get the necessary information from a child rescued from trafficking and from suffering trauma with the help of how friendly the environment is. She also urged officers of the department to make proper use of the facility to safeguard our children.
She also stated, that this safe and welcoming space, complete with child-friendly artwork and comforting details, will ensure that children and other vulnerable individuals, especially survivors of child trafficking, are treated with dignity, care, and respect.
The Honourable District Chief Executive of the South Tongu District, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo on 15th July, 2025 graced the commissioning of the “Child Friendly Office” space at the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.
This is what she had to say; she lauded the project and assured, as her love for children to see to it that the facility serves its purpose and also provide all the necessary support the department requires to keep the place functioning.
Mr George Larweh who represented the Regional Director for the Department of Social Welfare applauded International Justice Mission (IJM) and all other stakeholders who contributed to making the dream a reality. He also stressed that the facility’s presence in the district is in its right direction to ensure that children who suffer abuse and trauma for that matter will be able to receive the necessary support they require from the department.
Mr Joel Elorm Quarcoo, Acting District Head of the Department had this to say on behalf of the staff of Social Welfare and Community Development, Sogakope, every child in the district and himself; “we will like to make it known, that we are filled with hope and gratitude as the child-sensitive interview room has finally been commissioned at the South Tongu District Social Welfare and Community Development Office in Sogakope”.
He also used the opportunity to thank some people and some institutions who supported in the project such as JEBB Pharmacy and As If but Not Store who are all located in Sogakope and International Justice Mission (IJM) most especially who made this possible.
