SOUTH TONGU DISTRICT ASSEMBLY OBSERVES GREEN GHANA DAY.

Green Ghana Day was observed across the country on the 9th of June, 2023 and South Tongu District was not left out. Various kinds of trees established were forest trees, ornamental, shade, amenity and trees that will survive in watershed areas. Prior to this, sensitization programs such as Radio shows and community interactions were undertaken. Community PA systems and information vans were also used to publicize the event in the District.

In all a total of 10,551 trees were planted in South Tongu District. The trees supplied are Cassia, Acacia, Mahogany, Polytea, SourSop, Guava and Royal Palm.

The District Assembly Office alone distributed and planted about 4,000 tree seedlings. The remaining seedlings were planted on farms, family lands, schools, homes, individual lands and watershed areas around Galosota.

The event was graced by the Hon. Member of Parliament Mr. Mensah Woyome, the DCE, the Presiding Member of South Tongu, the Chief and Queen Mother of Lolito, Assembly members and Unit Committee members, Heads of Department, Teachers and other Educational Heads, the BNI and Ghana Police Service, Members of the media, Community Members and School Pupils.
