Hon.VICTORIA DZEKLO SECURES APPROVAL AS THE DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF SOUTH TONGU DISTRICT.

The South Tongu District Assembly held a special meeting on Friday, 11th April, 2025 at the District Assembly Hall to confirm the President’s nominee, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo for the position of District Chief Executive.

A total of fifty-eight (58) Assembly members casted their votes. Forty-eight (48) Assembly members voted YES, nine (9) voted NO whilst only one (1) vote was rejected.

This marked a strong endorsement of the nomination by the President of the Republic, His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama as she obtained 83% for approval.

The special meeting for the confirmation of the President’s nominee drew several high-profile dignitaries which included the Council of State Representative for the Volta Region (Mr. Edward Adjaho), the Volta Regional Minister,(Hon. James Gunu), the  Regional Chief Director from Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), the Members of Parliament for both Keta and Central Tongu, the former Member of Parliament for South Tongu Constituency, The Municipal Chief Executives for Keta, Anloga and Keta North, Assembly Members, Traditional Authorities, Regional and District Executives of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) party and  Media fraternity.  

In her acceptance speech, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo thanked the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and Assembly members for the confident repose on her and promised not to disappoint them. She pledged to initiate, implement and drive development in various areas to improve the lives of the citizenry. She took the opportunity to implore all relevant stakeholders including traditional Authorities to come on board to help drive development agenda in the district.

Hon. Victoria Dzeklo concluded her speech and thanked the Regional Minister, Electoral Commission, MCD, Heads of all Department and staff of the Assembly, Chiefs and Elders of Nyinuto for their unwavering support.

Hon. Victoria Dzeklo thanked the Regional Minister and his entourage for the support given to the Assembly. She also thanked all Assembly Members and Traditional Authorities for their co-operation throughout the meeting.

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunn lauded the outcome, described it as a good mandate that comes with high expectations and thanked them for the voting for the DCE.

Hon. Victoria Dzeklo is expected to assume office immediately, with development of the district and stakeholder engagements at the top of his agenda.
