HON.VICTORIA DZEKLO DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF SOUTH TONGU PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO LAKPO-DUGAME INCIDENT SCENE.

HON.VICTORIA DZEKLO DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF SOUTH TONGU PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO LAKPO-DUGAME INCIDENT SCENE.

On June 24, 2025, the District Chief Executive of South Tongu, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, led a team of Assembly officials to Lakpo-Dugame to visit the incident scene where an elderly man, Mr. Hlordzi Kwadzo Amedo, tragically lost his life in an uncompleted canal on June 21, 2025.

According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Amedo heroically attempted to save his son who had fallen into the canal while washing clothes. Despite successfully rescuing his son, Mr. Amedo got drawn into the canal and lost his life.

The MCE and team inspected the site and discussed plans to urgently work on the uncompleted bridge to make it safe for use. The canal, constructed for rice farming purposes, was abandoned due to litigation issues and a change in government, leaving it in a hazardous state.

Hon. Dzeklo urged community elders, parents, and residents to caution their children against accessing the area without close supervision. She suggested using information centers to broadcast safety awareness messages to the community and provided ropes to demarcate the danger zones.

The MCE and team extended their condolences to the bereaved family and the Lakpo community, assuring them of their commitment to preventing similar incidents in the future. The South Tongu District Assembly is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens, and this visit demonstrates our resolve to take action.

May the soul of Mr. Hlordzi Kwadzo Amedo rest in peace, and may his family find comfort in this difficult time.
