FIRST ORDINARY MEETING OF THE THIRD SESSION AT THE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HALL, SOGAKOPE.

On a rainy Wednesday, 17th June 2026, the members of South Tongu District Assembly held their First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session at the District Assembly Hall, Sogakope.

The meeting commenced at exactly 10:30 am with an opening prayer led by Hon. Musah Issah. The Presiding Member, Hon. Mensah Kwaku Kudze, called the roll to establish a quorum. He then delivered opening remarks, after which the minutes of the previous meeting were presented and discussed.

This was followed bya presentation and discussion of the Executive Committee’s report, as well as briefings from key officers. The Managers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for Ada East and South Tongu briefed the House on issues of meter shortages and over-billing in the districts. The District Physical Planning Officer and the District Cooperative Officer also presented briefings. After each presentation, Assembly members asked questions which the officers answered.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, presented her Sessional Address. The address focused on key developments since the last Ordinary Meeting in the areas of Governance/Human Resource, Security, Finance, Health, Education, Agriculture, Projects, Water and Sanitation, among others. On security, she stated “The security situation in the district has generally been calm despite some few negative issues. No violent crime was recorded within the period. The District Security Council met during the period and mediated over various issues of concern. One unfortunate incident was the death of an individual at Agbakope arising from a chieftaincy dispute. The parties to the feud were invited by the district security council from both Sogakope and Akatsi for a discussion on the maintaining peace in the area. After several deliberations, it was resolved that parties or individuals should desist from any activity surrounding the purported installation. The District Security council was also noted a demonstration exercise carried out by citizens against Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) and Ghana water Limited (GWL) over services rendered to clients. The Volta Regional Minister engaged the leadership of ECG, GWL, the District Security Council, and the demonstrators to address their concerns and challenges. Due to pragmatic security measures that were put in place, the demonstration was peaceful. The DCE assured the public that the implementation of strategies to resolve the concerns and challenges had commenced. In her concluding remarks, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo thanked all Assembly members, Management and staff of the Assembly and other stakeholders for their support. She expressed hope that it would propel the district to greater heights in development and improve the living conditions of the people.

Hon. Mensah Kwaku Kudze also thanked members for their resilient spirit and support during the meeting. He commended their contributions to the day’s discussions and urged them to unite for the development of the district.
