A team of officers from the Environmental Health unit of South Tongu District Assembly has visited the slaughter house at sogakope. This forms part of their routine environmental health inspection aimed at ensuring safe and hygienic meat for the public.
The team began their inspection by meticulously examining the facility. They inspected the slaughter area, the floors and walls, the drainage systems and waste materials area.
The District Environmental Health Analyst (DEHA) inspected the employee’s personal hygienic and their adherence to proper meat handling. DEHA stressed the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment in the slaughter house, He emphasized the potential risks associated with unsanitary conditions and the impact it could have on public health. He also highlighted areas where improvements were necessary, including the need for better waste management systems, increased cleanliness in the faculty, and the importance of regular employee training to maintain high standards of health and safety.
