The residents of Sogakope had been experiencing an increase in cases of malaria and other vector-borne diseases. The district assembly, in partnership with Zoomlion, a waste management and environmental services company, took action by conducting a fumigation exercise in the community.
The fumigation exercise was aimed at reducing the population of mosquitoes and other disease-carrying insects in the area. Zoomlion had been contracted to provide the service, and the team arrived with all the necessary equipment and chemicals.
The team worked tirelessly, going from office to office, spraying the chemicals in every corner of the building. They also sprayed open drains along the principal streets of the town.
As the team worked, they educated the residents on the importance of fumigation in controlling the spread of vector-borne diseases. They also emphasized the need for proper sanitation and waste management to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and other diseases vectors.
