South Tongu District received a significant boost in educational resources following a donation by the Volta River Authority (VRA) on Thursday, May 14, 2026. During a ceremony at the Sokpoe D\/A Basic School, the Authority presented 6,000 branded exercise books and 500 Mathematical Sets to support basic education. These supplies were allocated to students at Sokpoe DA, Tefle DA, New Agave, Fievie EP, and Vume DA Basic Schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise books feature tailored messages on energy conservation to promote sustainable habits. Mrs. Rhoda Arthur, Principal Community Relations Officer of VRA, noted that the initiative is part of a broader commitment to quality education, which includes scholarship schemes for the next generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Receiving the items, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, commended the VRA for the intervention. She noted that the donation would ease the financial burden on parents while enhancing the academic experience for students. She also acknowledged that two constituents are currently benefiting from VRA tertiary scholarships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The items were handed over to the Head of the District Education Planning Unit, Mr. Elorm Golo, who thanked the Authority for its consistent support in improving education quality in the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
