After months of planning, Dabala\u2019s 24-Hour Economy Market Project finally broke ground on Monday, May 11, with the site officially handed over to the contractors and consultants.\u00a0 The handover ceremony drew a mix of government officials, traditional leaders, and community members who\u2019ve been waiting to see this project move forward. Present were South Tongu MP Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, District Chief Executive Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, NDC executives in South Tongu, staff from the District Assembly, the engineering team from Titanium Engineering and Construction Limited, consultants from PPMC Consultancy, and chiefs from across the district.\u00a0 Speaking at the event, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo said the market is more than just a building project. She called it a strategic investment meant to open up economic opportunities, improve conditions for traders, and create lasting jobs for people in Dabala and beyond.\u00a0 \u201cThis facility shows the Assembly\u2019s commitment to improving infrastructure and supporting local businesses, especially the traders and small-scale operators who keep Dabala\u2019s economy moving,\u201d she said.\u00a0 Hon. Dzeklo also thanked President John Dramani Mahama for his continued focus on infrastructure and economic development across the country.\u00a0 She expressed confidence that once completed, the market will give Dabala a real boost more trading space, more jobs, and new opportunities for businesses to grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Maxwell Lukutor also expressed profound appreciation to H.E John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling his commitment to the people of South Tongu by commencing the project. He noted that the National Democratic Congress government is demonstrating its commitment to delivering on the promises made to Ghanaians and assured residents that both the President and his office remain focused on honoring every pledge. The Member of Parliament reaffirmed his own commitment to the development of South Tongu, emphasizing that he is steadily fulfilling the promises he made to the constituents. He dismissed claims that the market project was going to be relocated to Sogakope, describing such reports as false propaganda intended to mislead the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Lukutor also stressed that, unlike previous instances where projects were awarded without adequate financial backing, the current administration under President Mahama is awarding contracts only when funds are available to ensure timely execution and completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MP said his office prepared the site plan and all necessary documentation for the project, which the District Assembly did not pay for, showing his personal commitment to the initiative’s success. He expressed confidence that the market will significantly boost economic activity in Dabala and the wider district by creating jobs and expanding opportunities for traders and businesses. When finished, the Dabala 24-Hour Market is expected to become a key commercial hub for South Tongu, helping push forward the government\u2019s 24-hour economy agenda of keeping trade and jobs active around the clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
