At a social auditing engagement organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in South Tongu District, residents identified key development projects they want the Assembly and government to focus on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purpose of the meeting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program was part of NCCE\u2019s social auditing initiative, which allows citizens to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monitor government projects<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demand accountability<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suggest priority needs for their communities<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participate in local governance decisions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social auditing helps communities ensure that public resources are used properly and that projects reflect the real needs of the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Projects citizens prioritized During the engagement, residents mentioned several urgent needs, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Improvement of roads<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expansion of health facilities<\/p>\n\n\n\n

School infrastructure<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water supply projects<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanitation and drainage systems<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants stressed that these projects are necessary to improve living conditions and support development in the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 What officials said<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NCCE officials explained that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citizens have the right to question how projects are done<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Communities must help monitor contractors<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Development works better when people are involved<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They encouraged residents to remain active in local governance so that projects will not be abandoned or poorly executed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
