The management and staff of South Tongu District Assembly collaborated with residents in the district to carry out a clean-up exercise. The exercise was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, the District Coordinating Director (DCD), Mr Siibu Imoro Braimah and the District Environmental Health Officer (DEHO), Mr Samuel k. Glago, on Friday, 6th<\/sup>\u00a0February 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clean-up exercise is a monthly initiative instituted in line with the President\u2019s agenda to reset the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The objective of this clean-up is to promote environmental cleanliness, improve public health and deepen community participation in nation-building. In the long run, the exercise would equally reduce preventable communicable diseases such as cholera, malaria, typhoid, and other common infections in the district. Aside from the health and environmental benefits, the cleanup also promoted social interaction among community residents and Assembly staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cleaning up commenced at about 6:30 am in all principal streets in the district. It lasted approximately four (4) hours. After which, the principal streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approximately a hundred (100) participants took part in the clean-up exercise. Members and unit committee members. Other supporting participants included the Ghana Fire Service, the Ghana Police Service, Zoomlion staff, shop owners, business operators, and the district’s youth. Shops that were opened will be given a letter to come to the assembly to explain why they didn\u2019t join in the clear-up. The activity went well with massive participation in the district. The District Chief Executive thanked everyone for participating in the clean-up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
