The District Chief Executive Hon. Victoria Dzeklo declared Saturday, 24th May 2025, as a District Sanitation Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Environmental Health Offices of the South Tongu District Assembly headed by Mr. Samuel Giago in collaboration with Assembly Members of the District, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the Security Services, and other key stakeholders, organized a comprehensive District -wide clean-up exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the activity covered the entire District, major attention was focused on the markets and lorry stations of Sogakope and Dabala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative aimed to improve sanitation within the District, particularly in high-traffic public spaces such as community markets and transport terminals, and to curb the potential spread of communicable diseases. Activities undertaken included the desilting of drains, sweeping of lorry stations, and thorough cleaning of market areas. The exercise witnessed active participation from various community members, including market women, drivers, hawkers, and bread sellers along the streets of Sogakope. Their enthusiastic involvement contributed significantly to the success of the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presence of the Honorable Member of Parliament Hon. Maxwell Lukutor and the District Chief Executive Hon. Victoria Dzeklo was particularly impactful, as their support and engagement served as a motivation for other participants and underscored the importance of the exercise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental Health Officers were well represented in both Dabala and Sogakope, taking leading roles in mobilizing participants, coordinating activities, and supervising the entire operation. In addition, several staff of the South Tongu District Assembly actively took part in the clean-up efforts, especially in Sogakope. Logistical support was provided by Zoomlion Ghana Limited, whose skip container truck played a vital role in evacuating the collected refuse to the final disposal site. The exercise marks a significant step toward promoting environmental hygiene and public health within the district and reflects the collective commitment of stakeholders to maintaining a clean and healthy environment in the District .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
