The 68th<\/sup> Independence Day Anniversary Celebration was held on Thursday, 6th<\/sup> March, 2025 at the forecourt of the South Tongu District Assembly premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At exactly 7:30 am, the school cadet corps arrived for the occasion. Later, traditional authorities, the District Coordinating Director, the District Director of Education, members of the District Security Council (DISEC), the Hon. Member of Parliament for South Tongu Constituency, the Hon. Presiding Member, some Assembly members, Departmental and Unit Heads and other invited guests also arrived for the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The District Coordinating Director, the District Police Commander and the District Education Director inspected the guard of honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were march past performances by the cadet corps from the respective schools such as Sogakope Senior High School, Comboni Technical Institute, Total Child International School and Little Star Academy School, all in the district capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 68th<\/sup> Independence Day Anniversary Celebration Speech was delivered by the District Coordinating Director, which reflected on the theme, \u201cReflect, Review and Reset\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The speech encouraged Ghanaians to reflect on their journey since independence, review their progress and challenges and reset their priorities to achieve sustainable development and prosperity. The key issues highlighted in the speech were corruption, indiscipline in educational institutions, chieftaincy disputes and environmental health concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also urged stakeholders to work together to address these challenges and promote national transformation, unity and progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The District Director of Education, Madam Celestine Sewoenam A. Korsi- Agordo and the Member of Parliament for South Tongu Constituency, Hon. Maxwell Lukutor also delivered various speeches which reflected on the theme, \u201cReflect, Review and Reset\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, there were presentation of citations and certificates to Madam Faustina Kuabutornye a retired educationist and also a member of the Planning Committee for her commitment and dedication for the development of the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme ended with a closing prayer by the district Chief Imam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
