Sabon Sake in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, South Tongu District Assembly and other key partners held a successful three-day Regenerative Agriculture Training workshop for farmers within the South Tongu District.
Sabon Sake is a climate tech organization whose mandate is to accelerate regenerative agriculture and climate finance in climate vulnerable farming communities. Additionally, to build and nurture a network of regenerative agriculture, healthy soils and agroecosystems and a resilient food supply chain.
The theme of the workshop was “Achieving Climate -Resilient Farming Systems by working with Mother Nature”
The program recorded more than seven hundred farmers from various communities in the South Tongu District. Farmers were taken through various climate resilient farming practices and were also taught a simple process of making sustainable Biochar from biomass residues from farms to increase soil carbon levels and improve soil health.
A number of communities in attendance, to name a few were Hikpo, fievie -kpodzi, Kpotame , Dendo, Agbakope ,Lakpo Detsawome,Klonu- Dzogborve, Tosukpo,Bludo Awusakpe etc.
Some dignitaries in attendance were: The DCE , Hon Seth Agbi, Mr.Setsoafia(District Coordinating Director), Shine Akakpo( District Agric Director), CEO of Sabon Sake – Audrey S-Darko, Mr. Frimpong (Deputy Coordinating Director) and other relevant stakeholders from the banks to commercial agriprocessors and farms to agriculture students in senior high schools.
